Diamondbacks fall to Phillies 9-5

The Philadelphia Phillies did battle with the the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday at Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies victorious 9 to 5. It was a huge win that rooters with Phillies tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Phillies pitcher David Herndon (4.19 ERA) got the win, while Jordan Norberto (11.05 ERA) took the loss for the Diamondbacks. Cole Hamels went 5 innings for the Phillies, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Phillies was Danys Baez (4.95), Jose Contreras (3.97), and Ryan Madson (5.19). The Diamondbacks’s starter Rodrigo Lopez went 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Blaine Boyer (4.63), Esmerling Vasquez (4.54), and Chad Qualls (8.51) also pitched for the Diamondbacks. With the win, Herndon’s record goes to 1-2, while Norberto drops to 0-1.

In addition to the 9 runs, the Phillies put up 13 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Phillies, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Greg Dobbs had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. The Diamondbacks didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Rodrigo Lopez could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Diamondbacks mustered 5 runs, 8 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim McClelland, Andy Fletcher, Mike Everitt and Adrian Johnson. There were 44,379 Phillies ticket holders in attendance at Citizens Bank Park.
