Reds lose to Phillies 9-6

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. Each baseball game is different, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Reds tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 15 runs! Talk about excitement! There’s not much better than a baseball game so get your MLB tickets before its too late.

Phillies pitcher Brad Lidge (5.25 ERA) got the win, while Arthur Rhodes (1.13 ERA) took the loss for the Reds. Joe Blanton went 7.2 solid innings for the Phillies, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Phillies was Jose Contreras (2.28). The Reds’s starter Mike Leake went 6 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 home runs and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Danny Herrera (3.91), Bill Bray (9.00), Jordan Smith (1.17), and Nick Masset (5.88) also pitched for the Reds. With the win, Lidge’s record goes to 1-0, while Rhodes drops to 2-2. J.C. Romero earned the save for the Phillies, bringing his saves up to 3.

Wilson Valdez provided much of the offense for the Phillies with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 9 runs, the Phillies put up 11 hits and committed no errors. Brian Schneider led the Phillies in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Wilson Valdez’s 2 hits. Juan Castro had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Reds didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Reds got 6 runs, 10 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by C.B. Bucknor, Doug Eddings, Dana DeMuth and Kerwin Danley. There were 26,679 Reds ticket holders in attendance at Great American Ballpark.
